CDR Management & Platform Questions

A Call Detail Record (CDR) is a data record produced by a telephone exchange or telecommunications equipment that documents the details of a telephone call or other telecommunications transaction. CDRs typically include: originating and terminating numbers, call duration, date and time, route taken, and quality metrics. CDR data is critical for billing accuracy, fraud detection, regulatory compliance, capacity planning, and business intelligence.
Our mediation engine supports major CDR-related formats including CSV, XML, JSON, and proprietary vendor exports from Cisco, Avaya, Mitel, Ericsson, Nokia, Huawei, Asterisk, FreeSWITCH, and many others. Data can be ingested via SFTP, FTP, direct database connections, REST API, Kafka streams, or real-time CORBA/XML interfaces. We also support IPDR, TAP3, RAP, and 3GPP charging records. If your format is not listed, contact us — we can typically add support within 2–4 weeks.
Our platform performs multi-stage validation on every CDR record: format validation, field-level checks, duplicate detection using configurable deduplication keys, sequence gap analysis, referential integrity checks (e.g., valid subscriber IDs), and business logic validation. Records that fail validation are quarantined and flagged for review rather than discarded, preserving a complete audit trail. Our clients typically see 99.9%+ data accuracy post-processing.
The platform is architected for horizontal scalability and currently processes over one billion CDR records per day across our client base. We support burst processing for peak traffic periods and can scale dynamically in cloud deployments. Processing latency for real-time streams is typically under 500ms. We support clients ranging from small enterprises with thousands of daily records to Tier-1 carriers with tens of billions of monthly records.
We offer both deployment models. Our cloud SaaS option is hosted on ISO 27001-certified infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP depending on your region preference) and includes automatic updates and managed operations. For clients with strict data residency or security requirements, we offer a fully supported on-premises deployment on your own infrastructure or private cloud. Hybrid models (e.g., on-premises data processing, cloud-based reporting) are also supported.

Reporting & Call Accounting Questions

Both options are available. We provide over 200 ready-to-use report templates covering traffic analysis, billing summaries, fraud reports, quality metrics, and more. Our drag-and-drop report builder allows you to create fully custom reports without any coding. For complex custom requirements, bespoke report models can be configured as part of an engagement. All reports can be scheduled for automatic delivery via email, SFTP, or API in PDF, Excel, or CSV format.
Our call accounting module supports multi-currency, multi-site, and multi-entity organizations. You can define tariff tables per country, carrier, or call type; assign cost codes to organizational units; and generate invoices or chargebacks in any currency. For international organizations, we support consolidated global reporting as well as per-entity breakdowns. Integration with your ERP or finance system (SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, etc.) enables automated cost allocation and journal entries.
Our monitoring module provides live traffic dashboards with configurable KPI thresholds. You can set alerts for traffic volume spikes, unusual destination patterns (indicative of IRSF or wangiri fraud), high-cost route usage, SLA breaches, or CDR collection failures. Alerts are delivered via email, SMS, or webhook — and can trigger automated actions such as route blocking or subscriber suspension via API. All alert events are logged for post-incident analysis.

Security, Privacy & Compliance

Telecom West is SOC 2 Type II certified and ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certified. Our cloud infrastructure is hosted on CSA STAR-certified cloud providers. We undergo annual third-party penetration testing and regular internal security audits. Security certifications and our latest audit reports are available to enterprise clients under NDA upon request.
All data is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.3 and at rest using AES-256. Data access is governed by role-based access control (RBAC) with the principle of least privilege. Full audit logs capture all data access events. For SaaS deployments, client data is logically isolated in dedicated schemas. We support customer-managed encryption keys (CMEK) for clients with heightened key management requirements.
Yes. Our platform includes configurable data retention policies that allow you to define retention periods per data type and automatically purge or anonymize data as required. For GDPR, we support data subject access requests (DSARs) and the right to erasure for non-billing data. Data residency controls allow you to restrict data storage to specific geographic regions. We recommend defining exact retention rules with your legal and compliance function for each jurisdiction.

Onboarding & Support

Implementation duration depends on deployment complexity. A standard SaaS onboarding with existing common data formats typically takes 2–4 weeks. Deployments involving custom format development, legacy data migration, or complex integrations with existing billing/ERP systems typically take 6–12 weeks. Each project includes a structured implementation plan with clear milestones defined at kickoff.
We offer three support tiers: Standard (business hours, email/ticket), Professional (extended hours, phone/email/ticket, 4-hour response SLA), and Enterprise (24/7 priority routing, 1-hour response SLA for critical issues). All clients have access to our self-service knowledge base and video training library. Quarterly business reviews are included in Professional and Enterprise tiers to ensure the platform continues to meet your evolving needs.
Absolutely. We offer personalized live demos tailored to your specific use case — not just a generic walkthrough. The platform will be demonstrated using data scenarios relevant to your environment. We can also provide a proof-of-concept (PoC) deployment using a sample of your actual CDR data for qualified enterprise prospects. Contact us to schedule a demo.
